Originally presented to the town council back in 2009, the Sports Association of Oakland is hoping that this year’s carnival proceeds will help the town make the project a reality.

Planned out by residents who, at the time, were serving on the Recreation Commission and the Shade Tree Commission, the plan involves a walking path that would circle the main fields of the recreation complex. The path would utilize existing sidewalks where available, and would be about 2/3′s of a mile in length.

Initially embraced by the previous administration, the plan still needs to approved by the present mayor and council.
